I am very excited to announce the launch of my official crowdfunding campaign for my brand new album “Brave The Hive”! This is my 9th studio album and my first new music in 5 years. I'm producing this album myself with the help of musical pals Jason Valleau and Aaron Young. Bruce Hoffman and Scott Duncan round out the cast of players.
With only guitars, bass, pedal steel, fiddle and vocals on the recording, Brave The Hive is a sparse recording but it’s far from barren. It’s chock-full of brotherly harmonies, catchy melodies, smart lyrics, and kick ass instrumental performances.
Here’s the honest truth - making albums is very expensive. There was a day when CD sales quickly paid the debt incurred from a recording project. It’s getting harder (dare I say, damn near impossible) to recoup one's recording expenses through physical sales, downloads and streams.
I invite you to get behind this new project as a crowdfunder. All monies raised go towards covering production, manufacturing, and promotion costs. Unlike my previous two crowdfunding campaigns, I've opted to launch this campaign via my website and not Kickstarter. I’ve always struggled with the fees associated with crowdfunding platforms - they’re great but they all take a percentage, upwards of 15%. I want you, my supporters, to know that your entire contribution goes directly to the project, with not a penny being siphoned off the top. Also, unlike my previous crowdfunding campaigns, I’m asking supporters to cover their own postage. I’ll admit, I feel a bit cheeky doing this but the cost of shipping on my last crowdfunding campaign exceeded $3000.
